Demetrios Economou studied at the University of Gilford in London. He has created 50 bronze busts of notable public figures to be found in places of prominence in public squares. He has made a statue of the hero Ypsilandis in Ypsilandis Viotias Greece. In the unveiling ceremony were present the President of the Greek Parliament and officials of the Greek armed forces. The unveiling was widely reported by all the media.
Masks are his expertise. He paints Byzantine icons. As a painter he does: surrealistic art, abstract art. symbolic art-spiritual art.

He was selected to exhibit at the Royal Academy summer exhibition. He made a solo exhibition in Repley Art Centre in Bromley Kent 2000. He made masks exhibition in Croydon Museum. The museums that exhibit his art are: Vorres Museum in Athens, Bromley Museum in London, Frankfurt Museum of Modern Art, Croydon Museum London. He is going to open his own museum in Plomari Greece where he is going to exhibit his art and his collection of masks.

He has received two prestigious awards: The silver medal at the International Vitrina of Contemporary Art in Florence in 1998, and the gold medal at the International Biennale of Florence in 1999. He is a Scientific Committee member of Florence Biennale. Because of that he selected Prince Charles to participate in Florence Biennale 2001.

He made the statue of the British Brigadier Stephen Saunders in 2003. The unveiling took place in Vorres Museum Athens in the presence of top politicians and the British and American ambassadors.

He made the statue of Miss Great Britain 2002 Yana Booth.

He organised many art exhibitions for the Olympic Games Athens 2004 in London-Athens-N.Y.-Cyprus. He participates in the "Artiade" - Olympics of visual art - Athens 2004 12.8.2004 - 29.9.2004.

His art makes you realise a deeper dimension of our very own being because we start to understand the unity and the connections with the creation and the creator.
